Julia Smith — Trainer/Owner:
Julia Smith (formally Pariser) started riding at the age of 6 in Monterey County. She was instantly hooked on jumping but would ride anything she could get her hands on. Her first horse was an Arabian named Archimedes. “Arkie” and Julia competed in the A and B circuit hunters as well as the Arabian circuit. After Arkie’s retirement, Julia was privileged enough to show in the hunters and jumpers on great horses such as Lady Luck. Her very supportive parents then purchased Garfield aka Sugarfoot to start her jumper career.
Aboard Garfield Julia won countless titles including, numerous Junior jumper Championships and mini prixs at Pebble Beach, Murieta, Santa Rosa and all over Northern California. The pair also placed 5th or better in every Training Level Eventing competition that they entered.
In 1998, Julia was lucky enough to begin riding and showing in the Czech Republic with Olympic rider and trainer Jiri Pechacek every summer. In 2000 she purchased Finn Val from him.
In 2001 Julia was PCHA Junior Jumper Champion of the year on Garfield and Reserve Champion on Finn Val. She stepped into the High Junior Jumpers aboard Finn Val, placing in the 1.40 open jumpers against great riders such as Richard Spooner. They competed twice in the Pebble Beach $10,000 jumping derby as well as placing 2nd in the Woodside $8,500 money class, and 2nd in the $5,000 Pebble Beach Special.
2004 Julia and her parents imported Cum-Laude Z, again with the help of Mr. Pechacek. Aboard Cum-Laude Z, Julia won numerous AO Jumpers, as well as placing in the Low AO’s in Indio. During college she was a working student for Grand Prix riders Benson Carroll and Richard Keller.
In 2006 Julia graduated Cum Laude from Cal Poly Polytechnic University of San Luis Obispo with a major in Agribusiness and a concentration in International Business Management. She received top grades in Equine Breeding, Equine Biomechanics and numerous pre-veterinary classes at Cal Poly.
Cum-Laude Z and Julia became a force to be reckoned with the jumper ring with highlights including:

On August 7th 2010, Julia married her long time love, Zachery Smith. She rode Cum-Laude Z down the aisle at the beautiful Chateau Julien Winery. Zachery Smith is a licensed veterinarian who graduated from the UC Davis Veterinary program. He is schooled in Equine Breeding and lameness but focuses primarily on small animal surgery.
Prestige Equestrians relocated to the bay area from Davis, during the summer for 2011. Her hopes are to bring her goal specific training program to the equestrians of the bay area.
Prestige Equestrians offers lessons from beginners to advanced experience levels. Julia works closely with every rider to achieve his or her individual goals. Prestige Equestrians is a family of horse lovers and everyone works together towards a common goal, which is improving their communication with these beautiful animals and improving their riding skills.
