Children’s Program:
Horseback riding offers a well rounded experience for young children. They will learn compassion, responsibility and sportsmanship while providing a great outdoor activity for the whole family.
We have programs for children ages 5 and up. At this age, children possess the attention span and ability to properly follow instruction.
Our program stresses proper horsemanship along with the essentials for proper riding. Every lesson will work on the correct way to approach a horse, Proper ways to lead and work with a horse safely, proper mounting and dismounting, correct riding position, grooming and tacking up a horse
For our first time riders, we start with a lead line lesson and work to a lunge line. This provides a safe environment for our young riders to learn essential basics such as maintaining a proper riding position and balance and basic hand and leg commands while building confidence and comfort on a horse.
Once the child can apply these basics on a lunge line the riders will move to arena lessons where your child will be allowed to build on the confidence and basic riding knowledge they learned on the lunge line.
Children can continue with Prestige Equestrians lessons and training programs to achieve any riding level they desire.
We feel the best way to build the basics required to work safely and confidence is to complete a 4 lesson program. Our program includes 4 one hour lessons that will build the necessary horsemanship foundations.
